I am a continuing student aspiring to be a wildlife biologist, planner, or manager. Raised in Washington state, I was enamored by all things natural and was immersed in nature from camping and river skipping at a young age to self-guided hikes and international travel at an older age. On a trip to Hawai'i for a high school research trip I knew I had found my new place. I went to Hawai'i for college and haven't left. Hawai'i's unique mixture of isolation, thriving culture, and conflicting land use has pushed my studies to wildlife, including all things endemic, native, and invasive (humans included) as well as the natural resources everything relies on. I am interested in understanding and quantifying human impact on natural processes and relationships to create sound research, mitigation, and maintenance plans that will ultimately help lead us towards a sustainable future with intact native ecosystems and minimal extinctions. My current research as a member of the Hawai'i Wildlife Ecology Lab focuses on the movement ecology of the Endangered Hawaiian Stilt, of which results of home range size and habitat use will aid with the management of the species towards recovery.
